In March of this year, Karl Lagerfeld chose Willow Smith to be a new Chanel ambassadress, a high honour – one which only a select few including Kristen Stewart and Lily-Rose Depp share. Today, the young singer, songwriter and actress has been unveiled as the star of the house’s AW16 eyewear campaign, shot (as Chanel’s campaigns always are) by Lagerfeld himself.
“Swathed in jewels from the Fall-Winter 2016/17 Ready-to-Wear collection, she breathes new energy into the world of Chanel eyewear,” said the brand in a statement.
The designer met Smith in 2014, when he shot her for V magazine, and since then she’s sat on the front row at Chanel’s shows, including its AW 16 Shows at Paris Fashion Week in March.
